The Supreme Court today ordered a CBI probe into the unnatural death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, saying, “a fair, competent and impartial investigation” was the need of the hour.

Rejecting Sushant’s rumored girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty’s plea, a Bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy said: For the petitioner Rhea too, it will be the desired justice as she herself called for a CBI investigation. The dissemination of the real facts through unbiased investigation would certainly result in justice for the innocent, who might be the target of a vilification campaign.”

The top court held that registration of an FIR by Sushant’s father KK Singh and its subsequent transfer to the CBI at the behest of the Bihar Government was right. -It must be held that the Patna police committed no illegality in registering the complaint.”

Rhea Chakraborty left Sushant’s place on June 8. barely six days before his body was found hanging at his Bandra house under mysterious circumstances. The Mumbai Police said it was suicide and that the actor was suffering from depression.
