Katrina Kaif’s journey in Bollywood has been nothing short of remarkable. Despite facing criticism for her dance moves and Hindi accent early in her career, she has become one of the most bankable actors in the industry today. However, not many people know that her then-boyfriend Salman Khan once revealed how John Abraham got her replaced in a movie, leaving her devastated for days. Scroll down to know more about this incident.
Katrina made her Bollywood debut with the film “Boom” in 2003. She was later supposed to be a part of Anurag Basu’s directorial venture “Saaya”, but John Abraham reportedly got her replaced after just one shot. The role went to Tara Sharma instead, but this incident had a profound impact on Katrina’s career.
In an interview on “Aap Ki Adalat”, Salman Khan revealed how he had to console Katrina for three days after John Abraham got her replaced. He recounted the visual of Katrina crying and saying, “My whole career is destroyed.” Salman Khan believed that Katrina would become one of the biggest stars in the country and told her that she would laugh at the incident after a few years.
However, Katrina didn’t believe him and said that he was only saying that because he was a big star. Salman Khan then advised her to work on her Hindi and English, and she learned to read and write Hindi in just two days.
Salman Khan also revealed how years later, Katrina had the opportunity to get John Abraham replaced in the movie “New York”, but he suggested against it. He said, “She has worked hard to reach her current position.
“When she saw the film, she said, “This has John in it.”. I replied, “So what?”. It could be anyone in the film. ‘You’re doing the film because you like the script, you like the director, and you can pick anyone to be your co-star.’ She said, ‘No, but he took me out of that film.’ I said, ‘Be magnanimous.’
Because you are friends with the director and with the production company, you are in a position to do this (remove John from the film). You can replace him at any time, but it’s not the right thing to do.”
He added, “She understood that, she worked with him and it became a hit. Katrina aur mere badappan ki vajah se John Abraham ko ek bohot badi hit mili.
