Salman Khan’s upcoming movie, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, will be released in theaters on April 21. This marks another entry in the actor’s long tradition of releasing films for Eid, a tradition that began with the 2009 release of Wanted.
Although Salman Khan has achieved great success and wealth since his debut in the hit film Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), there was a time when he was struggling financially. During a recent interview, the actor revealed how he once duped a taxi driver during his college days because he couldn’t afford the fare. However, after he became famous as a model and actor, he was able to pay the driver back with interest.

Salman Khan is the eldest son of screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife Salma Khan. He has two brothers, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and two sisters, Alvira Agnihotri, and Arpita Khan. After Salim Khan split with his writing partner Javed Akhtar, he faced financial difficulties, and the family often struggled to make ends meet.
During an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, Salman Khan recounted the story of how he once skipped out on paying a taxi fare. He explained that while he and his friends usually took the train to college, he decided to treat himself to a taxi ride one day.
Unfortunately, he didn’t have enough money to pay the fare, so he told the driver that he would return with the cash in a moment, but he never returned. The actor eventually dropped out of Mumbai’s St Xavier’s College, but he went on to achieve great success as a model and actor.
The Incident with the Taxi Driver
Years later, Salman Khan took another taxi ride and the driver kept insisting that he recognized the actor from somewhere. When they arrived at Salman’s home, the driver realized who he was and the two men shared a laugh over the incident. Salman made sure to pay the driver back the fare he owed, along with interest.
